This Position requires an individual who:
2. High School Diploma preferred, but not mandated, general engineering aptitude required.
3. High degree of initiative, motivation and endurance.
4. Knowledge of:
- Care, operation and maintenance of a variety of power tools and equipment.
- Generally accepted principles and practices of carpentry, plumbing, painting and
- Properties and techniques of concrete finishing.
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
- Record keeping and report writing.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner.
- Perform general building maintenance, including carpentry, painting and plumbing.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course
- Maintain mental capacity which allows for effective interaction and communication with
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties
- Diagnose problems and make recommendations.
- Make estimates of materials required.
- Repair and replace damaged parts and equipment.
- Work independently without direct supervision.
Requirements:
1. Implement the 10/5 Rule at all times during work hours.
2. The ability to follow proper payroll and uniform procedures.
3. Perform a variety of building maintenance duties including painting and wallpapering, window
installation and repair, floor tile replacement, door hanging and repairing, and exterior wall
surfaces.
4. Maintain heating and refrigeration units, replace filters and clean vents; repair swamp coolers.
5. Replace burned out and defective fluorescent tubes and light bulbs; replace burned out
ballasts, broken light switches, duplex receptacles, plates, and other plug receptacles.
6. Repair bathroom plumbing; replace or repair leaking faucets and damaged lavatory sinks;
unclog toilets, shower and sink drains.
7. Perform a variety of carpentry duties as assigned including repairing walls, doors and trim;
repair beds, tables, lockers, gate locks and fences.
8. Maintain door closures, locks and hardware
9. Maintain resort buildings, install and maintain fencing, repair park benches, playground,
shelters and other equipment.
10. Assist with construction and refurbishing of various structures.
11. Inspect resort area; remove possible hazards to ensure public safety.
12. Maintain bathrooms including repairing broken fixtures; replace fixtures when necessary.
13. Operate a variety of tools and equipment including power tools
14. Install roofing, insulation and drywall.
15. Perform general cleanup of job sites.
16. Perform special projects as assigned.
17. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
18. Assemble and install metal duct work.
19. Maintain records and write reports.
20. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of
assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
21. Estimate time, materials and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as
required.
22. Inspect and maintain fire sprinkler systems.
23. The ability to assist in providing electrical repair and maintenance to motors, starters, breakers
and associated equipment throughout the entire building.
24. The ability to maintenance and re-lamping of all lamps in the hotel, and assist in socket repair
and replacement.
25. The ability to assist in installing electrical wiring for renovations, electrical outlet additions,
motors and associated equipment.
26. The ability to assist in providing electrical set-ups for exhibits and conventions including
maintaining electrical equipment for exhibits.
27. The ability to assist in providing preventive maintenance of all electrical/mechanical/plumbing
equipment and updating of appropriate logs.
28. The ability to clean all stations in Engineering and maintain a neat and organized department.
29. The ability to respond to all guest complaints regarding the maintenance of their room or
public area in a timely manner.
30. The ability to assist in performing preventive maintenance in guestrooms and public areas.
31. The ability to assist on all plumbing stoppages and repairs in the resort
32. The ability to repair an assortment of items brought to the shop by other departments.
33. The ability to assist in cleaning grease traps, filters and drains and other equipment/areas as
necessary.
34. The ability to assemble desks, shelving, cabinets, etc. as assigned.
35. The ability to assist Shift engineers on major shut downs for repairs.
36. The ability to maintain logs for all work performed while on duty within department and those in
other departments as they apply to Engineering Repairs.
37. The ability to assist in installing or relocating any additional or existing equipment when
necessary.
38. The ability to take meter readings, record temperatures
39. The ability to respond to work orders or room inspection reports submitted by Department
Heads.
40. The ability to respond to all emergency conditions such as fires, power failures, etc.
41. The ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times to reflect the high
standards of Four Seasons Hotels.
42. The ability to maintain a good working relationship with other employees, providing instruction
and encouragement as needed.
43. The ability to ensure a clean, neat and organized work area.
44. The ability to report any damages observed within the Resort area, whether it be guestroom,
public areas or any employee housing units through the Engineering reporting systems in
place. Reporting to be done within one hour of discovery.
45. The ability to perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff.
